The Reach of Light
About the Exhibition
The Reach of Light is a Pride Month group exhibition that turns the sanctuary of the historic Coral Gables United Church of Christ into a gallery for six Florida LGBTQIA+ artists working primarily in photography and visual art. The show is directed by Miami-based artist David Gary Lloyd, who also exhibits two 2025 works: Echoes, a triptych of a figure in a long grey dress amid layered floral imagery and soft palms, and Creation. Born in Annapolis, Maryland in 1985, Lloyd works across photography, digital painting and mixed media, intertwining queer symbolism and portraiture to explore identity, resilience and the LGBTQIA+ experience within both natural and constructed spaces. His work has been shown at Context Art Fair during Art Basel week in Miami, the Coral Gables Museum, the Coral Springs Museum and the GLAAD Art Auction. The Reach of Light opens June 5, 2026, bringing contemporary queer art into a historic Coral Gables sanctuary for Pride Month.
