About the Exhibition

"The Statue of Liberty from Bartholdi to Warhol" at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas uses one of the country's most recognizable symbols to explore patriotism, resistance and immigration. With nearly 100 artworks by more than 70 artists, the exhibition runs August 15, 2026 through January 3, 2027. It centers on a cast of Frederic Auguste Bartholdi's bronze Statue of Liberty, one of only five domestic-scale reductions made during the sculptor's lifetime, and follows the monument's shifting meaning across its history through the work of artists including Andy Warhol.
