Unlovable: An Open Call Exhibition
About the Exhibition
Vision Gallery in Chandler, Arizona presents 'Unlovable: An Open Call Exhibition,' a show that reimagines the animals often deemed unlovable by the public. On view June 13 through August 15, the exhibition invited Arizona-based artists to depict creatures from the creepy to the crawly, reimagining them through unique perspectives that emphasize their beauty, strangeness, resilience or symbolic power. More than 60 artists are represented. Juror Daniella Napolitano selected works spanning a breadth of species and media, from jewelry to handmade artist books. 'Many show a sensitivity and beauty that I hope help viewers appreciate these animals in a new light,' she said. Related free programming includes a Creepy Crawly Day on Saturday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, and the gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday.
