Roost Arts Hudson Valley is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to artistic expression, community connection, and creative educational partnerships. Located prominently on Main Street in New Paltz, the gallery serves as a hub for the local arts community, presenting thoughtful contemporary art programming across all disciplines while featuring the work of both renowned and emerging local artists. The space is completely handicap-accessible, making it welcoming to all visitors, and sits in a prime location across from several restaurants and near the SUNY New Paltz campus. The gallery offers diverse programming throughout the year that goes well beyond traditional exhibitions. Visitors can expect to find rotating art exhibitions, film screenings, artist talks, and opening receptions where they can meet creators. The gallery hosts art workshops and classes, figure drawing sessions, and monthly open mic poetry events through Calling All Poets on the first Friday and third Thursday of each month. An annual Holiday Art Gala in December draws hundreds of artists and community members, creating a festive atmosphere celebrating local talent. Roost Arts extends its reach beyond the main gallery space through innovative community projects like the Tiny Roost, an outdoor solar-powered art gallery installation at the Gardiner Library featuring rotating exhibitions on relevant themes. The organization is also committed to supporting emerging artists through scholarships and student art competitions open to high school and college students ages 14 to 25.
