America's 250th Anniversary Art & Event Opportunities
Winnebago County artists and organizations can apply for grant funding and participate in competitions celebrating America's 250th anniversary.
GoRockford is launching a comprehensive celebration of America's 250th anniversary with multiple opportunities for local artists, students, and organizations to participate and receive funding.
There are three main ways to get involved:
1. Special Event Funding: Local organizations, nonprofits, and community groups within Winnebago County can apply for grant funding to support programs and events aligned with the 250th anniversary theme. Eligible projects include festivals, exhibits, special performances, and educational programs. This is an excellent opportunity for established arts organizations and event producers to expand their programming with financial support.
2. America 250 Art & Essay Competition: Elementary, middle, and high school students in Winnebago County are encouraged to participate in this student-focused competition. Participants can submit either visual artwork or essays around the theme "Community and Country." The competition recognizes one winner per grade level, with cash prizes awarded to winners. All winning entries will be displayed or read during 250th anniversary celebration events throughout the region, providing valuable exposure for young artists.
3. Event Submission: Event organizers can submit their existing or planned events for inclusion in GoRockford's promotions and marketing efforts, expanding the reach and visibility of their programming.
This initiative represents a significant opportunity for the local arts community to showcase their work, secure funding, and be part of a major regional celebration. The deadlines are staggered to accommodate different types of submissions, with event funding applications due March 31 and student art/essay entries due May 1.
