Fiber Arts & Quilt Exhibition 2026

Southwest Art Gallery & Science Center showcases diverse fiber art and quilts through April 23, 2026 in Dickinson, North Dakota.

The Southwest Art Gallery & Science Center (SWAGSC) in Dickinson, North Dakota is hosting a Fiber Arts & Quilt Exhibition running through April 23, 2026. This exhibition celebrates the artistry and diversity of fiber arts, including quilts, needle felting, doilies, and clothing items created by local and regional artists.

The exhibition was organized by Cherie Roshau, SWAGSC vice president, who aimed to showcase the often under-appreciated art form of fiber arts and quilting. The call for artists in February resulted in over 100 submissions, demonstrating strong community interest in the medium.

The exhibition features work from various skill levels and styles, including pieced quilts, appliqué quilts, cross-stitching, and modern-art inspired patterns. Featured artists include members of local guilds such as Quilters on the Prairie, as well as high school students and young adults, showing the growing appeal of fiber arts across age groups.

According to featured artist Carol Krause, fiber art encompasses anything made with cloth or fiber. The diversity on display demonstrates the countless creative possibilities available to quilters and fiber artists, from traditional to contemporary approaches.

The SWAGSC board members view this as a milestone exhibition for the growing gallery, marking the first time they have showcased fiber art. The event has successfully brought together the local art community and raised awareness of the region's quilters and fiber artists. Board members emphasize that the exhibition provides a meditative and inspiring experience for visitors, offering a chance to appreciate the skill, creativity, and cultural significance of this art form.
