Open Call for Artists: Submit Art for LA Landmarks Zine
Create black-and-white, coloring book-style illustrations of iconic LA locations for a zine featuring immigration resources.
The LA Local, a nonprofit newsroom rooted in neighborhoods across Los Angeles, is launching an open call for artists to contribute illustrations to a special zine celebrating local landmarks and featuring immigration resources.
This is an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work while contributing to a community-focused publication. The zine will feature black-and-white, coloring book-style illustrations of some of Los Angeles' most iconic and culturally significant locations, including Mariachi Plaza, Sixth Street Bridge, MacArthur Park, Korean Pavilion (Dawooljung), Slauson Swap Meet, Leimert Park Village, Edward Vincent Jr. Park (Centinela Park), and LAX Tacos.
Four winning artists will be selected, featured in the zine, and paid for their contributions. This is an excellent opportunity for emerging and established artists to gain recognition and support their artistic practice while celebrating the neighborhoods and landmarks that define LA's diverse communities.
Submissions must be original, black-and-white illustrations in a coloring book style. Artwork created using AI will not be accepted. All submissions must be in either horizontal or vertical orientation and fit within the specified dimensions of 5.8 inches by 8.3 inches (half of a full sheet of paper).
The deadline to submit is April 15th by 11:59 p.m. Submissions can be made through the online form on The LA Local's website. Artists experiencing technical difficulties can email their submissions directly to the contact provided.
