Sacred Space: A Group Show of Women Artists

Exhibition featuring six women artists exploring sacred space through textiles, printmaking, collage, and painting at Yocum Institute.

The Yocum Institute for Arts Education in West Lawn is presenting "Sacred Space: A Group Show of Women Artists," a compelling exhibition featuring the work of six accomplished artists: Kachina Leigh, Sara Miller, Karen Palcho, Pam Roule, Anna Schweigert, and Daniella Yacono. The exhibition runs through April 24, 2026, in the Holleran Gallery.

This diverse group show brings together multiple artistic mediums including textiles, printmaking, collage, oil painting, and abstract works to explore the concept of sacred space. The exhibition draws inspiration from the ancient tradition of the Red Tent, a historical gathering place where women came together to rest, give birth, menstruate, reflect, and commune. Through their deeply personal and symbolic works, the participating artists reclaim the Red Tent as a site of creativity, resilience, and connection.

A centerpiece of the exhibition is an immersive Red Tent installation designed to invite viewers to reflect on themes of sanctuary, transformation, and the enduring strength found in women-centered spaces. According to Nadia Pochan, Visual Arts Department Director at Yocum Institute, "We've never done anything quite like this before. With the ambitious task of bringing an installation in the space, we're seeking to create an environment that goes beyond cliche."

The opening reception takes place on March 22, 2026, from 2-4 p.m., providing an opportunity for the community to meet the artists and experience the exhibition firsthand. The Holleran Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The gallery is closed on Sundays. Admission to both the exhibition and opening reception is free and open to the public.
