Sculptural Screening Project at Centennial Park

Call for artists to create a sculptural screen integrating geothermal panels at Centennial Park in Pagosa Springs. Up to $20,000 available.

The Town of Pagosa Springs is seeking professional visual artists and artist teams to design and create a sculptural screening project at Centennial Park. The selected artwork will function as a sculptural screen or barrier to visually soften and integrate existing electrical charging stations, utility boxes, and parking areas. Artists are encouraged to create site-responsive work that incorporates Town-provided geothermal heating panels and reflects Centennial Park's identity as Pagosa Springs' Geothermal Campus. This project is part of the Town's adopted Public Arts Plan and is funded through the Town's FY 2026 Public Arts Fund. Up to $20,000 is available for design, fabrication, and installation. The artwork must be completed by December 31, 2026. The project invites artists to explore themes of water, geothermal energy, sustainability, and community identity. Centennial Park, nestled along the scenic San Juan River Walk, highlights Pagosa Springs' world-class geothermal resources through infrastructure, education, recreation, and innovation. Artwork should complement this setting and reinforce geothermal energy as a defining element of community identity. There are no geographic restrictions, though Colorado and Southwest U.S. artists, as well as artists from underrepresented groups, are strongly encouraged to apply. Artists are responsible for transportation, panel pick-up, and installation costs. The Town will partner with the selected artist throughout the process to help navigate land use codes, permitting, and regulatory requirements.
