The Winter Garden Art Association (WGAA) is calling for artists for its next exhibit, Florida Roots: Land, Light & Life, at the SOBO Gallery in Winter Garden, Florida. The show invites artists to celebrate the beauty, character, and spirit of Florida through work inspired by the state's wildlife, wetlands, coastlines, orange groves, culture, and history. All media are accepted.
Submissions are accepted from Wednesday, July 1 through Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and the opening reception takes place Thursday, August 6. The exhibit will also feature Orange Grove, an original Florida Highwaymen painting by Roy A. McLendon Sr., who is known for capturing Florida's natural beauty with bold color and expressive brushwork.
The call is open to Central Florida artists aged 16 and older. Two-dimensional pieces must be framed or have a finished gallery edge and be ready to hang, with a wire hanging system preferred. The submission fee is 10 dollars for WGAA members and 20 dollars for non-members or guest artists.
The Winter Garden Art Association operates the SOBO Gallery in downtown Winter Garden and supports local and regional artists through rotating themed exhibitions, classes, and community programming. Florida Roots is part of that ongoing series and offers area artists a venue to show new work around a shared regional theme. Full requirements and the entry form are available on the WGAA call-to-artists page.
