Deadline: July 3, 2026

The Salina Art Center in Salina, Kansas is calling for artists to submit work for Power of Small, a pop-up exhibition running July 29 through September 27, 2026. The show aims to highlight the impact of art created on an intimate scale, a deliberate contrast to the larger works featured in the center's Mountain Plains Biennial, which opened May 22.

Artists may submit up to three separate works, with each piece smaller than five by seven inches. Eligible media include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media, as long as the work stays within the size limit. Each artist must include a written statement of no more than 250 words, and works should demonstrate thoughtful composition, technical skill, and a strong sense of intention within the confined format.

All entries must be submitted online by July 3, 2026, with media files clearly labeled with the title of the work and the artist's name. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by July 10. Selected artists must complete a loan agreement that includes an insurance value, and accepted work cannot be removed before the exhibition closes on September 27.

Artists are responsible for delivering work to and from the Salina Art Center, including any round-trip shipping or insurance costs, though volunteers can help collect work from schools when delivery is a barrier. Selected pieces must arrive by 5 p.m. July 22, ready to exhibit. A professional presentation is required, with framing preferred for two-dimensional works and stable mounting for three-dimensional pieces. The Art Center insures accepted work under its fine art policy.
