Cheyenne Greenway Mural Call for Proposals
Cheyenne, Wyoming seeks experienced mural artists to partner with youth artists on a colorful underpass mural promoting mental health and self-worth.
Leadership Cheyenne, the Cheyenne Greenway Foundation, the City of Cheyenne, and Arts Cheyenne have announced a call for artist proposals for an upcoming mural on the Greater Cheyenne Greenway. The mural is planned for a section of the Greenway in South Cheyenne at the large underpass at Walterscheid Boulevard, just west of the Boys & Girls Club at 515 W. Jefferson Road.
The goal is to partner experienced artists with youth artists to add multiple colorful mural pieces near the underpass used by people traveling east or west along the Greenway. The finished product is meant to inspire frequent users while generating more pedestrian traffic to the area. The project is a collaborative effort between the Leadership Cheyenne Class of 2025-26, the Cheyenne Greenway Foundation, the City of Cheyenne, and Arts Cheyenne to promote mental health awareness and engage young local artists in community beautification.
Community partners want the murals to include lots of color, along with inspirational imagery and messaging directed at increasing mental health and self-worth. Project partners are seeking experienced mural artists to partner with youth artists to add multiple colorful mural pieces. Artists interested in submitting a proposal should plan to include a rendering or sketch of their mural concept as well as a short description of how their concept fits the theme of the project.
The project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2027, following fundraising efforts led by the Leadership Class of 2025-26 and the Cheyenne Greenway Foundation, with fundraising completed at the 2026 Boo Ball event in late October. A public reveal and celebration will be planned for spring or summer 2027.
