Gasworks London Residency for Philippines Artists
A fully funded 11-week London residency at Gasworks for an early-career visual artist based in the Philippines. Deadline July 27.
Applications are open for an eleven-week fully funded residency in London for early-career contemporary visual artists based in the Philippines. The residency takes place at Gasworks from January 6 to March 24, 2027, and supports artistic research, experimentation, cultural exchange and professional networking through a self-led, process-based model. The programme is non-prescriptive, meaning the selected artist is not required to produce a finished work, but is encouraged to explore ideas, develop new directions and build networks.
The opportunity is open exclusively to early-career contemporary visual artists based in the Philippines, applying as individual artists. Applicants must have at least a moderate level of spoken English and be comfortable discussing their work in English. Artistic duos and collectives are not eligible. Support includes a fully accessible private studio with 24-hour access, accommodation in the Residency House, economy return flights, taxi transfers, visa costs and application support, a weekly stipend of 175 pounds, a materials budget of up to 800 pounds, a prepaid travel card, studio visits with artists and curators, and curatorial, pastoral and administrative support.
Applications must be submitted digitally through the online form, including a cover sheet, a statement describing artistic practice and interests, a statement outlining residency plans, examples of recent work and a CV. A selection panel with specialist knowledge of the contemporary art scenes in the Philippines and the United Kingdom will review applications, giving priority to artists with strong potential who have not previously had the opportunity to work in London. A shortlist of four candidates will be invited to an online interview the week beginning August 10, with the successful applicant notified the week beginning August 24. The deadline to apply is July 27, 2026.
