Germinale 2026 Calls: Residencies and SELVAartprize
Monferrato Art Fest's Germinale 2026 opens two calls for emerging artists: residencies under 35 and the SELVAartprize for artists under 40.
Germinale - Monferrato Art Fest expands its program for emerging artists with two calls for younger generations. The diffuse contemporary art festival, which will animate villages, castles, churches and historic spaces of the Basso Monferrato from September 11 to October 4, 2026, has launched calls for its Art Residencies and for the SELVAartprize, two initiatives designed to support contemporary artistic production and foster dialogue between emerging research and the territory. Conceived and organized by the Quasi Fondazione Carlo Gloria APS, Germinale takes its name from the month of the French revolutionary calendar dedicated to germination and rebirth.
The first initiative is the Art Residencies program for artists under 35, who may apply by July 30, 2026. The project selects at least nine participants to live and work in the territory from September 7 to October 5, 2026, in symbolic locations including the Castello dei Conti Amico of Castell'Alfero, the Castello di Frinco, the Chiesa di San Michele in Murisengo and the former Confraternita dell'Annunziata of Calliano Monferrato. Artists are housed in single or shared apartments with studios that also serve as exhibition spaces, and during festival weekends they welcome visitors, present work in progress and may organize workshops. The program includes curatorial tutoring, organizational support, inclusion in the official catalogue and a final public presentation.
Alongside the residencies, the SELVAartprize open call, dedicated to artists under 40, has a deadline of July 5, 2026. A jury will select 15 finalists for a group exhibition at the Ex Asilo Regina Elena in Castagnole Monferrato, and the winning work receives an acquisition prize of 2,500 euros. The prize also offers further professional opportunities, including participation in future Germinale editions, access to 2027 residency programs and the chance to exhibit during Turin's art week.
