Okazaki Park Stage 2026: Open Call Performance Stage, Kyoto

Rohm Theatre Kyoto invites performance groups for its outdoor Rohm Square open-call stage, across theater, dance, music and performance art.

Okazaki Park Stage 2026 is an outdoor event held in Rohm Square, the courtyard of Rohm Theatre Kyoto, organized by the Kyoto City Music Art and Cultural Promotion Foundation together with the City of Kyoto. The program aims to create autumn vibrancy and to generate points of contact between everyday life and art. As part of it, the Rohm Square Live open-call stage invites performance groups to present work on October 17 and 18, 2026 (with October 25 as a rain date).

The call seeks roughly six to eight groups over the two days. Any genre of performance is welcome, including theater, dance, music, performance art and audience-participation work, though content with a physical dimension is preferred, and both new and restaged works are accepted. Performances take place during the day, from 1 to 4 p.m., in a designated area of Rohm Square set with movable benches, where each group arranges its own audience and acting space. Each performance is up to 30 minutes, presented once per day, with about 15 minutes for setup and breakdown.

The organizers provide basic sound equipment (speaker and microphone) and cover insurance for performer injuries, and pay a production support fee of 50,000 yen per day. In case of rain, the venue moves to a covered piloti area; in severe weather the event shifts to the rain date.
