Berlin Discipline-Open Funding for Festivals and Series
Berlin's Senate Department for Culture funds one- and two-year festivals and series by the independent scene. For Berlin-based artists and curators. Deadline...
Berlin's Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion is awarding discipline-open funding for artistic projects across individual disciplines as well as interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work that is realized in Berlin and made visible to the public. The funding is aimed primarily at members of the independent scene. Eligible applicants are natural and legal persons whose primary residence or headquarters is in Berlin and who work professionally as artists or curators.
The program supports projects and programs that are not, or only insufficiently, covered by the existing funding landscape of Berlin's cultural administration. Projects must be developed and shown in Berlin and must mostly involve Berlin-based artists. Eligible formats are series (a sequence of at least three different events), festivals, and special programming focuses such as anniversaries. Pure film festivals and film series are not eligible. Only projects that have not yet begun can be funded; the earliest project start is January 2027, and projects may run through December 2028.
An independent, interdisciplinary jury of 14 members, seven of whom attend the sessions, advises on the number of projects funded and the level of support. Applications and all attachments must be submitted electronically and in German, using the mandatory forms for the financing plan and venue confirmation. The application deadline is Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
