El Cochayuyo Magazine Call: The Journey
El Cochayuyo magazine seeks unpublished Spanish-language poetry, fiction, essays, photography, and illustration on the theme of the journey. Deadline June 30.
El Cochayuyo, a magazine published by Ediciones Nueva Documentas in Chile, has opened submissions for its first volume, dedicated to an experience as old as it is universal: the journey. The call invites writers, photographers, and illustrators to submit unpublished works that engage with this theme from diverse, personal, and creative perspectives.
The organizers understand the journey in a broad sense. It can be a physical movement between territories, cities, or borders; the experience of migrating, leaving, or returning; or passage through spaces of waiting and transformation. It can also be an interior journey: an exploration of memory, identity, dreams, nostalgia, or the intimate places we inhabit in silence. The call is equally interested in stories of encounter with others and experiences of foreignness, refuge, hospitality, loss, and discovery that arise when we move away from the familiar.
The organizers seek works that approach these ideas with freedom, sensibility, and a personal point of view. It is not necessary to address the theme literally; they are interested in the many ways the journey can appear in artistic creation, whether as displacement, search, transformation, absence, desire, or return.
The call is open to unpublished works in Spanish in the categories of poetry, short story, essay, photography, and illustration. Selected works will be part of the publication of El Cochayuyo's first volume, a magazine dedicated to gathering emerging voices and diverse perspectives. The call remains open until June 30, 2026, and results will be announced on July 10 through the magazine's social media.
