Jordan River Mural Project Call, Rose Park, Salt Lake City

The Salt Lake City Arts Council has put out a call for artists to create murals for four locations along the Jordan River Parkway in Rose Park. Selected artists and artist-led teams will be encouraged to create work that transforms four spots between 600 North and 1500 North into welcoming and engaging public spaces.

The mural sites include the Riverside Park restroom, retaining walls on the Backman Elementary pedestrian bridge, the large and small pumphouse at the Rose Park golf course, and the Cornell Wetlands Pump Station. The Jordan River Parkway is the longest paved urban trail in the country, providing a recreational and community resource that connects neighborhoods, parks and wildlife habitats throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

This request for qualifications seeks artists to create murals that celebrate the character of the community, highlight the importance of the river corridor, and strengthen connections between people, place and the natural environment. The project is part of broader public and private efforts to restore the Jordan River on Salt Lake City's west side.
