VIII International Painting Biennial, Los Santos de Maimona
Spain's Los Santos de Maimona opens its 8th International Painting Biennial on the theme of wine, grapes and the harvest, open to any nationality.
The Culture Department of the Los Santos de Maimona town council, in Extremadura, Spain, has announced the eighth edition of the International Painting Biennial 'Los Santos de Maimona, Cuna de Artistas' (Cradle of Artists). The competition is firmly established in the locality and closely tied to its Harvest Festival, bringing an artistic dimension to the wine-growing culture central to the town's tradition and identity.
The call is open to any artist over 18, of any nationality. Each entrant may present a maximum of three original works that have not previously won awards in any other competition, on a theme linked to wine, grapes or the harvest. Two general prizes will be awarded: a first prize of 1,000 euros and a second of 750 euros, along with a special prize of 500 euros for the best local artist. Prizes are not cumulative and are subject to legally established tax withholdings.
A strictly local children's category is also offered for children aged 5 to 15, governed by the same rules but with free technique and size, where the highest-scoring work receives a set of paints valued at 100 euros. Local artists who wish to may also take part outside the competition, simply exhibiting their work on the same wine-related theme.
