Material Touch Points: Dib Bangkok Curatorial Workshop
Dib Bangkok offers six Southeast and East Asian curators and scholars a funded object-based research workshop and symposium. Apply by July 31, 2026.
Dib Bangkok, Thailand's first major non-profit institution dedicated to international contemporary art, invites applications for Material Touch Points, an intensive museum workshop and symposium for Southeast Asian and East Asian curators, art historians and scholars. Six researchers and practitioners will be selected for a three-day program of object-based research, roundtable discussion and presentations, December 18 to 20, 2026, with arrival in Bangkok on December 17.
The program explores a persistent tension in modern and contemporary art narratives in Thailand and the region: the divide between object-focused formal analysis and socially grounded contextual readings. Participants undertake concentrated study and writing on a work in the Dib collection, learning curatorial methodologies through mentorship from program leads Kevin Chua (Texas Tech University), Pamela Corey (Fulbright University Vietnam) and Kenji Chanon Praepipatmongkol (McGill University). Proceedings will be published after the symposium.
Applicants must be based in Southeast Asia or East Asia, at least 22 years old, able to communicate in English, with published writing related to contemporary art and art history. Selected participants receive round-trip airfare, accommodation, a daily per diem, a network of peers and the opportunity to publish with Dib Bangkok.
Applications are submitted as a single PDF and may be written in English or Thai. The deadline is 11:59pm on July 31, 2026 (GMT+7).
