Open Call: IX Mini Print Internacional Cantabria 2026

An international printmaking competition in Santander, Spain, open to artists worldwide, with a top prize of 4,000 euros. Deadline July 31, 2026.

Deadline: July 31, 2026

The Mini Print Internacional Cantabria is an international printmaking competition organized by the Port Authority of Santander and SM Pro Art Circle, with the collaboration of El Diario Montañés and Grupo Nueva Dársena. Held annually since 2018, the now-prestigious contest draws hundreds of artists from around the world each year. Participating works are reviewed by an independent jury that selects the annual prizes and mentions, and the entries, alongside the award-winning pieces, are exhibited at an art space belonging to the Port Authority of Santander.

Artists who wish to take part must register and send their work before July 31, 2026. The competition is open to all printmaking disciplines, and also admits printed digital work and monotype. The general theme is "Mar Abierto. Realidad, imaginario y poética" (Open Sea: reality, imaginary and poetics), but works need not be figurative, and all aesthetic languages are accepted. The image and the paper must not exceed 20 by 20 cm; there is no minimum size.

Prizes include a first prize of 4,000 euros, a second prize of 1,500 euros, a third prize of 500 euros, and a Mar Cantábrico prize of 500 euros for artists born in or resident in Cantabria. The jury will also award honorary prizes and mentions. The jury for the ninth edition includes Carinna Parraman, professor and director of the Centre for Print Research at the University of the West of England, Bristol; Eugènia Agustí, visual artist and Serra Húnter lecturer at the University of Barcelona; and Usama Hábil, artist and lecturer at the University of Salamanca and winner of the eighth edition. The jury will meet on September 18, 2026, to decide the awards.

The exhibition of the ninth edition will be held at the exhibition space of the Archive of the Port Authority of Santander, in the Barrio Pesquero, open to the public from September 11 to December 8, 2026.
