Open Call: Teatro Adolfo Mejia 2026 Season, Cartagena

Cartagena's heritage institute invites local artists and cultural managers to program the historic Teatro Adolfo Mejia, keeping 100 percent of their box office.

Deadline: June 30, 2026

The Institute of Heritage and Culture of Cartagena de Indias (IPCC) has opened a public call for the Teatro Adolfo Mejia 2026 season, inviting local artists, creators, and cultural managers to propose projects for the city's most emblematic stage. The initiative is designed to democratize access to the theater and to build its artistic agenda collectively.

Proposals can span the circulation of stage works, exhibitions in the theater's Espacio Galeria Museo TAM, mediation and cultural tourism experiences, and training or master-class laboratories. The process runs under a box-office management model, meaning the IPCC provides the venue and specialized technical support at no cost, and selected participants keep 100 percent of their physical or virtual ticket sales.

The call is directed at cultural agents with demonstrated residence of at least two years in Cartagena, who can register in three categories: natural persons (individual artists and creators aged 18 and older), constituted groups (collectives or temporary alliances without legal status), and legal entities (cultural organizations, foundations, or companies domiciled in the district). The IPCC stresses that technical materials such as portfolios and videos are essential and non-amendable requirements, urging applicants to review the terms carefully before registering.

Applications are submitted through a fully virtual platform. Terms of reference, registration formats, and the application form are available on the official IPCC calls portal. Registration is open through June 30, 2026.
