San Fernando invites young artists 15 to 30 to submit small-format work on tenderness, invention and freedom. Free entry, deadline June 24.
The Secretaria de Cultura y Turismo de San Fernando, through its Visual Arts Area, has launched an open call for the 1st Regional Young Art Salon in small format. The proposal invites young artists to rethink creation and give form to their realities around three central themes: tenderness, invention and freedom. Participation is free and open.
The competition is open to Argentine artists or foreigners with more than two years of residency in the country, aged 15 to 30. Accepted disciplines are broad, including painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, digital art, ceramics, textile, mixed media and two-dimensional assemblage, with the sole requirement that works be ready to hang on the wall. Works must be two-dimensional with a minimum size of 30 by 30 cm and a maximum of 50 by 50 cm, weigh no more than 3 kg, and may be of free shape. The work does not need to be previously unpublished, and only one submission is allowed per artist.
The Salon will award a first and second prize consisting of art supply kits from leading brands, supported by firms and foundations linked to culture and art. Registration is already open, with a deadline of Wednesday, June 24 at 1 p.m. to complete the online form. Applicants must attach a photograph of the work in JPG or PNG format, a brief description and a short artist biography. Selected works will form part of a group exhibition opening Saturday, July 25 at 7 p.m. in the halls of the Palacio Belgrano Otamendi.
