A Work for Rome's Gazometro: Call for Under-35 Artists

Spazio Taverna, Eni, and ROAD invite Italian artists and architects under 35 to design a new work for Rome's Gazometro. Winner receives 3,000 euros. Deadline...

Deadline: July 31, 2026

Spazio Taverna, in collaboration with Eni and ROAD (Rome Advanced District), has launched a Call for Ideas inviting Italian artists and architects under 35 to imagine a new work for the Gazometro complex in Rome. The call asks participants, individually or in collectives whose members are all under 35 as of July 31, 2026, to propose a monument, pavilion, or installation that enters the landscape of the Ostiense district.

The Gazometro is one of the capital's main urban laboratories. A former industrial area tied to the city's gas production, it has gradually been transformed into an ecosystem for research, innovation, and culture, and since 2024 has hosted ROAD, a hub founded by eight major companies, along with the Arte al Gazometro program promoted by Eni. Participants are asked to engage with this layering of industrial memory, contemporary infrastructure, and future prospects, and to help define a new symbol for the district.

Proposals will be assessed by a jury including Marco Bassan and Ludovico Pratesi for Spazio Taverna, Mattia Voltaggio for ROAD, Claudio Quaternato for the Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and Lorenza Baroncelli for MAXXI Architettura, weighing design quality, relationship to context, and cultural impact. The winning project receives a prize of 3,000 euros, and participation is free. Finalists and the winner will be announced in September 2026.
