NASIONAL Skateboard Design Contest, Costa Rica

Costa Rican artists and designers can submit an original graphic for a commemorative NASIONAL skateboard deck, marking the brand's twentieth anniversary.

Deadline: July 1, 2026

NASIONAL Skateboards, a Costa Rican skateboarding brand, has launched a national design contest as part of the celebration leading up to its twentieth anniversary. After two decades supporting skate culture, art and independent urban creative movements in Costa Rica, the brand has opened a nationwide call to artists, designers and creative people from across the country.

Under the slogan Design a deck for the history books, the contest invites participants to develop an original graphic proposal celebrating NASIONAL's path. The winning design will be produced as part of the brand's 2026-2027 commemorative collection, becoming an official NASIONAL piece.

Founded in 2007, NASIONAL began with the goal of showing that Costa Rica could have its own skateboard brand. Over the years it grew into a meeting point for skaters, artists, musicians, photographers, designers and other expressions of the independent urban culture of San Jose. Organizers describe the brand as more than a shop, calling it a community and cultural platform that has accompanied several generations, and want the celebration to recognize the creative talent in the country.

The call remains open until July 1, 2026. An internal selection process will then choose the winning proposal, weighing visual strength, originality and production feasibility. The selected designer receives a cash prize of 250,000 colones, a physical deck produced with their design, public recognition as the winning artist, and official inclusion in the NASIONAL 2026-2027 commemorative collection. Full rules and requirements are available on the brand's official website and social media.
