XXIII Premio de Ensayo sobre Arte en Colombia 2026
Colombia's Idartes awards 30 million pesos for an unpublished essay on the country's plastic and visual arts. Apply through CultuRed by June 30, 2026.
The Instituto Distrital de las Artes (Idartes) invites entries for the XXIII Premio de Ensayo sobre Arte en Colombia 2026, a prize that strengthens critical, historical and theoretical thinking around the country's plastic and visual arts. The competition recognizes an original, unpublished essay or compilation of essays that contributes to reflection and analysis of the national artistic field.
The prize is open to natural persons, Colombian or foreign, age 18 or older and resident in Colombia. Submissions are evaluated anonymously to guarantee transparency, and the winning work receives an economic award of 30 million pesos. The winning essay is published by Idartes in digital format and made available for free download through the Galeria Santa Fe page, promoting open access to knowledge about the arts.
Proposals must be original and previously unpublished, not awarded elsewhere, and not entered in other calls or tied to editorial commitments. Entries must meet criteria of quality, argumentative coherence, relevance and contribution to the artistic field, with a length of 80 to 200 pages. In this edition, the use of artificial intelligence tools is permitted as long as the creative core is human-authored and intellectual property rights are respected.
Applications are made through the CultuRed platform, and the full terms are available there. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on June 30, 2026.
