Premio Federal de Pintura: $50,000 in Painting Prizes
Argentina's federal painting prize extends its deadline to June 18, awarding 50,000 dollars across three prizes and a national exhibition in Buenos Aires.
The Secretaria de Cultura de la Nacion, together with the Fundacion Maria Calderon de la Barca and the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, has extended the registration deadline for the Premio Federal de Pintura 'Fundacion Maria Calderon de la Barca' to Thursday, June 18. The competition, open since April 28, awards a total of 50,000 dollars in prizes and reinforces the federal character of the call following a strong response from artists across the country.
The prize is open to Argentine painters, native or naturalized, with a minimum of two years of residency in the province for which they apply. This edition will select 24 finalists, one for each province and the City of Buenos Aires, whose works will be exhibited in August at the Palacio Libertad - Centro Cultural Domingo F. Sarmiento. A jury appointed by both the Secretaria and the Fundacion will name the three winners at the exhibition's opening on August 13. Prizes are distributed as 30,000 dollars for the First Prize, 15,000 dollars for the Second Prize and 5,000 dollars for the Revelacion Federal prize.
Finalist results will be announced from July 20, and works will be received between August 3 and 5 at the Palacio Libertad, with the exhibition open through September 13. The Fundacion Maria Calderon de la Barca, created in 1962, has run the prize since 1964 and has distinguished major names in Argentine contemporary art including Carlos Alonso, Antonio Segui, Guillermo Roux and Carolina Antoniadis. Registration is made exclusively through the Plataforma del FNA.
