Saxony-Anhalt Working Grants for Freelance Artists
Saxony-Anhalt's Art Foundation pays freelance artists 1,500 euros a month to develop new work, for 3 to 6 months. Apply by November 9, 2026.
The Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation (Kunststiftung des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt) offers Working Grants that give freelance artists dedicated funding and time to develop new artistic projects and advance their creative practice. The grants support innovative, high-quality work while strengthening cultural production in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
Successful applicants receive 1,500 euros per month for a standard funding period of three or six months, with the possibility of extending support up to a maximum of 12 months through a new application. Funding may support artistic work stays within Germany or abroad.
The foundation supports a wide range of disciplines, including fine arts, applied arts, artistic photography, performing arts, literature, music, film, design, architecture, media art and interdisciplinary fields. Eligible applicants are freelance artists and self-employed creative professionals whose primary income is artistic work and whose main residence is generally in Saxony-Anhalt. School pupils, university students, those in vocational training, and applicants receiving funding from other institutions during the scholarship period are not eligible.
Applications are assessed on the originality and quality of the artistic concept, innovation, feasibility, potential impact and relevance to the foundation's objectives. Strong applications present a clear, original vision, a well-developed concept, a realistic implementation plan and supporting portfolio materials. Applications are made through the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation. The deadline for the current round is November 9, 2026.
