Severe ME Artists Project 2026: Call for Entries

MEAction has opened its Severe ME Artists Project 2026, a call for entries featuring work by people living with severe ME, in recognition of Severe ME Day on August 8. The project gives those with severe ME a way to showcase their talents through writing, photography, drawing, or any other medium, and participants may also submit past artwork made before they became ill.

The project will take the form of a video compilation and an online gallery of submitted work, shared with the community around Severe ME Day so people can watch or browse whenever it suits them. Because participation has grown so much in recent years, organizers ask that each person submit only one piece of work.

Submissions are due Friday, July 24. Each file must be labeled exactly as the artist wants their name to appear, followed by an underscore and the number of years they have lived with severe ME (for example, Lastname_Firstname_14, or Firstname_8months). Artists may use a first name only, a screen name, or list themselves as anonymous. Copyrighted material is not allowed, and generative AI is not permitted except under limited stated exceptions. Video submissions must be under two minutes. Anyone who needs help submitting can email the project team.
